Holly can’t focus on her academics because she misses her boyfriend so badly, who went to another city on a sports scholarship. They can’t afford for Holly to fail her tests and lose her scholarship, so since her stepdad, Mike, has lost his job, he decides to aid her with the “special incentives” that her ex-boyfriend used to offer her to keep her focused. Holly’s study habits improve with each successive attempt, and Mike becomes increasingly inventive with the rewards, encouraging Holly to do well on her examinations and repay his stepfather’s efforts.
